LOCALLY SOURCED INGREDIENTS

At the Garrison Pub, it’s about the food. Calgary, Three Hills, Medicine Hat, Blackie, Strathmore. That’s where your dining experience begins. Our food comes fresh from local places that we have been to. We use ingredients that you can pronounce. We try to use locally sourced produce and meat from local vendors who care.

Almost all the beef we use is Alberta Beef from AW Quality Meats located in Blackie, Alberta. It is 21-28 day dry-aged angus/Simental cattle that is antibiotic and hormone free. All the cattle are raised on one farm from birth; remaining within the close confines of an extremely well managed and sanitary farm. AW Quality Meats delivers whole sides of beef to our kitchen door. Our beef and pork is hand-trimmed to perfection in-house at the Garrison Pub. We cut our own steaks, roasts, and stew meats. Our hamburger is ground fresh and by hand right here at the Garrison Pub.

Our dishes are made with cured pork and bacon smoked with all natural hickory, free range turkeys, antibiotic-free chickens, codfish from the cold waters of the North Atlantic, and the highest quality farmed salmon from the Canadian West Coast.

Our potatoes, carrots, beets, onions, and garlic are all grown right around the corner on local southern-Alberta farms. Almost all of our bread products are hand-made and baked right here in our kitchens. This includes all of our pizza doughs. We only use fresh garlic and herbs. We make our own French fries daily from those same Alberta potatoes that are delivered right to our doors.

We use fresh canola oil in our kitchens. It is shipped right to our kitchen door by the good folks at Mountainview Canola located in Strathmore, Alberta. This High Quality Cold Pressed Canola Oil is made from 100% pure Canadian non-GMO Canola seed. It uses no preservatives or chemicals in processing. It is a complete whole oil that keeps it’s natural colour, as well as distinct flavor and healthy antioxidant compounds.

We have some beers on tap that are craft-brewed less than three miles from The Garrison Pub. Of course, we also stock the finest libations from all over the world.

The Bottom Line: We support local farmers and local Canadian businesses every time we get a chance to do so. We do this without compromising on quality. We’re proud of this approach. We hope that you can taste it in our home-made soups and chowders, in our main dishes and hamburgers, and in our award winning pizzas
